Dissertation Prize 2026 awarded to Daniel Weishaar

For the first time, the Standing Committee on Public Economics awarded its Dissertation Award, supported by the Confederation of German Employers’ Associations (BDA), for an outstanding dissertation. The prize was conferred upon Daniel Weishaar for his dissertation “Essays in Public Economics: Multidimensional Inequalities, Fairness Preferences, and Policy Instruments.”

Schmölders prize 2026 awarded to Emanuel Hansen

The Standing Committee on Public Economics has awarded the 2026 Schmölders Foundation Prize to Emanuel Hansen of Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich for his paper “Pareto-improving tax reforms and the Earned Income Tax Credit."

Schmölders prize 2023 awarded to Arthur Seibold

The standing committee public economics awards the 2023 prize of the Schmölders foundation to Arthur Seibold, University of Mannheim, for his work "Reference points for retirement behavior: Evidence from German pension discontinuities".

Statute

The standing field committee public economics was founded in 1959. It has about 100 members. Its work is devoted to analyzing all aspects of public finances and public economics.
